Chapter 1

Changing Our Attitudes

As an inspirational speaker, I am constantly being challenged in my heart to bring people truth, knowledge that will open them to understanding and bring change to their thinking and the attitudes of the heart.
God made a statement in His word, "That as a man thinks in his heart, so is he."  Let’s say that one more time and really think about it, "That as a man thinks in his heart, so is he."
Our attitudes are what govern our behavior, if our attitude is from wrong carnal thinking, then normally the out come of our behavior will be wrong, or what we call a work of the flesh.
Attitudes are usually something we are convinced about with an emotional element. It is the way we consider or regard people or things and in turn act or react whether right or wrong.
Beliefs on the other hand are usually different from our attitudes, it is what we believe, trust or have confidence in. Sadly we do not always act on our beliefs but on emotions and temperaments, which in turn dictates our reactions.
Now an emotion is not always wrong, it is good to feel good or to feel right about a person or thing, but this does not mean that our decision or reaction to our emotions is always right. Because our attitudes can be wrong, the difficulty arises in knowing what is right or wrong. In believers terms, what is from the flesh or what is from the spirit!
Suffices to say, we have all been raised in different environments and because of this we see people and things differently, traditions, culture, views of government and family have laid the foundations to many of our beliefs and attitudes. The challenge is, how do we change what is right or wrong and how do we bring ourselves to the place of walking in the spirit and not the flesh?
The bible says, "Do not be conformed to this world or this age, fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs, but be transformed (changed) by the entire renewal of your mind by its new ideals and its new attitude, so that you may prove for yourselves what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect in His sight for you."
The word ideal means an actual thing as a standard for imitation or belief, and these words challenge us to consider changing our heart to a higher level of God, in turn making us desire His good and acceptable and perfect will which is good and acceptable and perfect in His sight for you.
The new attitude means to renew our mind to the thinking of God’s ways and purpose, in turn producing an action or reaction that will bring a change of heart.
Do not be conformed, fashioned or adapted to this world means do not think or have the attitudes of this world, the carnal way of its external superficial customs or traditions. Now, I know this is not always easy in the world we live because we are constantly being bombarded and manipulated with information to change our thinking and attitudes, or in believer terms, to get us to walk after flesh and not by the spirit.
The world system spends billions of dollars to get us to change our attitudes. The purpose of this bombardment is simply to get us to buy their product, money spent to catch our sub conscious with the right word or phrase in turn slowly and subtly tricking us into acting out of an emotion, the carnal instead of the spirit of wisdom.
The reality is we have many enemies who are coming from thousands of directions, who are doing what ever it takes to stop us from finding the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. This is why it is so critical we prove our thinking and change our attitudes by the Word of God.
For example, I was raised to believe that a GMC truck was better than a Ford or Dodge. It was a strong belief but as I matured in life I realized they all had good and bad faults. Yet even though my belief had changed, my attitude was one of, "I don't care I will still buy a GMC truck."
It simply became an action or reaction of my attitude; it had no standard to my belief because my belief had changed. Many of us hear new truths all the time concerning God but because of a wrong attitude that is dictated by carnal thinking we miss out on the perfect will of God. Most of us act a certain way because of our attitudes and it is in this fact that as motivators we are constantly endeavoring to help change or be changed.
A desire as a son of God is to have a right heart attitude towards life, each other and especially towards the freedom and liberty that we have in the Son, and weather we like it or not, it is the Word that will ultimately change us in our thinking. As the Word has said, "For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he." or we could say, "so shall he be."
How critical it is for us to renew our thinking and how vital it is to have a right heart attitude? It can be the difference between life and death! Now when I say death I simply mean a life walked by the flesh, a place where there is no freedom but true freedom is a life walking after the spirit where God lives.

Chapter 2

Freedom, In God

The point in dealing with our attitudes or wrong thinking is to bring us the issue of this writing! Today, the Spirit of God is revealing truth about our freedom and liberty, a proclamation of our position as the sons of God.
So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free, has become a victory cry in the face of the adversary. But like any truth, there will always be a counterfeit to pervert or steal this liberty.
Now because we have heard so much about our freedom in God, many times it not properly explained, in turn creating a wrong thinking of sin consciousness, an attitude that can brings us back into bondage.
Sin consciousness is that state of being that makes us feel inadequate whenever we feel unable to do what God requires of us. We must come to the place where we understand there is no separation between us and God and that we are perfectly accepted in the Beloved. Sin is no longer an issue between us and God and that it is impossible for Him to leave us or forsake you, this is a truth that will set us free!
"You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
If what we have received brings us back to bondage then it is not truth at all!
What's the answer to the problem of wrong thinking or sin Consciousness? Simple, go back to the truth, there we will find freedom and liberty.
We may say" But I thought I was free?  The bible says, "Live as free people, yet without employing your freedom as a pretext for wickedness; but at all times as servants of God."
So what really is true freedom and what does it mean and how does it affect my life?
First, we must understand that God wants all to be free in Him that is why He sent His Son to die on the cross. And by us accepting this truth we would then appropriate this freedom.
The thing we must comprehend, from Scripture, is that freedom comes through God alone. He is the essence of freedom, the catalyst or foundation to understanding what true freedom really is. Now if this is true and we are not in agreement with God, then we cannot be truly free.
Before God came into our life we were under the taskmaster of flesh, but because of the fall of Adam all humanity was born into the curse and sentenced to death. Now it was not by choice or anything they did but simply born into this state.
Humanity was separated from God and therefore could not have a pure relationship. Adam lost the right of freedom, in turn bringing humanity into bondage and enslavement to the flesh through sin consciousness. Now humanity throughout the ages have tried to gain freedom by different means, methods, rules, laws, works and performance to appease or please God for favor.
Humanity in its desperation demanded from God a standard or Laws that might give them freedom, yet the law only showed that humanity was in bondage and without freedom. So God in his love had a plan, a plan to bring freedom itself through His Son. Simply, His Son would go to the cross a free man, because He was not in bondage to the fallen nature of Adam.
Now only a free man can free a slave. The Son was a hundred percent God, yet He was a hundred percent man and free without sin. Because of this fact He could purchase back those who were slaves to the bondage of sin and the price for this freedom was His precious blood through death on the cross. In other words, The Son would take upon Himself the bondage of their sin and sin consciousness. He would shed His blood as payment for their debt to sin. He simply would make full payment and buy back their freedom and remove the shackles of the flesh and sin consciousness.
Remember God is holy and just, it is in His nature to judge sin. In the old system of Law God tried to help humanity by giving types and shadows of Son, instruments that would temporarily help cover man's sin to a point. The problem was it was temporary and had no longevity, a quick fix based on works and performance but no real freedom.
Understand God has desired for humanity to be free from this curse and to release them from the shackles of their flesh. He knew man was unable to accomplish this task in and of Himself so He needed a perfect instrument of sacrifice, one without spot or blemish and the sacrifice would be His only Son. So the Son as the sheep before the slaughter opened not His mouth and suffered humanities death, punishment and condemnation, that they may have freedom of life in God
Friend, when the Son shed His blood through death on the cross, it broke the separation between man and his creator. The barrier of sin was broken, peace was restored to all men and an avenue was created for all humanity to be unquestionably free. It simply established freedom now and forever!
Now this freedom is not to do or live as one pleases in the flesh but a freedom to be able to choose between light and darkness and to walk after the spirit and not the flesh.
So today we no longer need to be in the slave market, no longer have to be tied down in chains or shackled to sin and its bondage; we are spiritual beings who are united to God’s freedom and set free to live out of God's household as His sons. We are no longer slaves but heirs With the Son.
The Son is the truth that has set us free; anything other than this fact is not truth; anything other than His sacrifice has no bases for freedom. Bible says, "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free."
Dear friends God knew you could not find freedom by the flesh that is why He sent His Son to set us free. Freedom must be a revelation that we are free before we can live in true freedom in the temporal life.

Chapter 3

Freedom Effects Attitudes

"For you, brethren, were [indeed] called to freedom; only [do not let your] freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse [for selfishness], but through love you should serve one another."
Now that we have laid the foundation for what and who freedom is from a spiritual perspective of position in God, how does this affect us in our temporal life and how does freedom help in my home, business, school, community and walk with God?
Does freedom mean the absence of rules, like disobey traffic signs, our parents, government or guidance from our leaders? Can freedom mean we can do whatever we want or please without facing any consequences for our decisions? We know this can not be true and know this kind of attitude would only bring confusion, can you Imagine the problems we would endure if we could do as we pleased without restraint.
Freedom in us is the right and privilege to become everything God wants us to be positional and temporal. It is the grace to fulfill God's greatest desire for our life and that is to walk as sons on this earth.
Freedom is the freedom to choose light, not a life pleasing one's flesh without responsibility.
Our freedom gives us the right to walk into the presence of a holy God, without guilt or feeling inferior, a freedom to present our petitions, to express our desires.
It is freedom to enjoy what it is God has called us to be, not a freedom to disobey His spiritual order.
Continually disobeying God's order of freedom is not freedom at all but putting ourselves back into bondage, and why would free people want to go back to the taskmaster of sin consciousness?
Let us realize there are two forces at work, there is God who is total light, the spirit. Then there is the adversary the flesh which is darkness, there is no in between. We are either in the light, spirit and righteous consciousness or in darkness, sin consciousness or flesh. Simply, in God we have been taken out from darkness of sin consciousness and flesh and translated into His marvelous light of righteous consciousness the spirit.
This darkness has no right to control us because we have been made free by the light, in Him and by His Spirit. You and I are new creation all together; we are no longer of the flesh but of the spirit.
Yet as sons of God we at times still choose to follow after the flesh and allowing our attitudes to dictate us subtly. The essence of our freedom is to have the ability to choose light or spirit, anything that is not of the light or spirit is bondage again.
Now, let me emphasize that I am not talking about losing regeneration. God has sealed us with the Spirit and promised never to leave us or forsake us, so we are secure in Him by His blood forever. Sinful attitudes will not break our relationship but it will and can affect our fellowship, not from God’s side but from our side. Understand that God will always have fellowship and by the spirit we always have through the Son but as we walk by the flesh and sin consciousness we cause enmity in heart with God.
By not submitting to the light or spirit, we can hinder the joy of our redemption. God desires us to experience the completeness of the Spirit and the work of the cross. Redemption is not just humanity saved but a complete deliverance with all of God in control by His Spirit. But sadly there are many in awkward positions that have missed much of what God desires for them because they have submitted to bondage of sin consciousness and the flesh again.
Understand the adversary in our flesh is a liar, and all of his strategy and purpose is to get us to believe the lies and dictates of the world. If this can be accomplished it will always lead us back to bondage the flesh. Yet it is the Spirit of God who leads us to truth and it is truth that brings us into freedom, a place of deliverance, wholeness and the fullness by the Spirit.
Yet, I must confess that as a motivator I am constantly dealing with the flesh and with dear family and friends who are walking back into bondage of sin consciousness, a never ending battle of temptations, subtle seducing attitudes that creep into the mind to lure us back into the defeated life.
It is because of these never ending attacks that we must counter attack with the truth by renewing our mind. Remember, the truth sets us free but also it is the truth that keeps us free.
"Sanctify then, purify, consecrate, separate them for yourself, make them holy, by the truth; your Word is truth."
It is the Word of God that exposes the enemies of our freedom and reveals the fleshes strategic plan to trick us back into bondage. Remember, your flesh is infuriated that we are free and that we have become the sons of God, this knowledge alone should make us appreciate our freedom.
The adversary knows how important knowledge is to our growth and understanding of who we are in God. It knows we need the Word to live in continual victory and to help solidify a true understanding of our freedom.
The Word spoken and lived through is our fleshes greatest enemy. Why? Because it is the manifestations of the sons of God and the adversary does not want us to know who we and that we are recreated in the Son. And it, the flesh, may discover he longer has control or any right to hold us as slaves to it self and the working of sin consciousness.
Many of the sons of God are afraid of an unseen adversary; they do not realize God has bought their freedom completely. This is why it is so critical that we ponder study and meditate on the Word of God, that we know our inheritance and the promises we posse as a son.
Thankfully God has imparted His Spirit of truth to our recreated spirit to help us into all truth and He simply is the one who guides or enables us to understand this truth.
When we received God, He sends His Spirit to live and abide permanently in our spirit and then the Spirit is then commissioned to teach and guide us into all aspects of our freedom and truth. Because of this, we have an advantage over the powers of our flesh.
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty-freedom."
If God lives in us, then there should be liberty, a freedom to walk with God, a place of fellowship with a Father of unconditional love.
Friend, if we do not submit to the Spirit abiding within and our position, as the sons of God, the flesh will be allowed to dictate our attitudes, works on our mind to serve him instead of walking in the Spirit.
The bible says, "For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power making it active, operative, energizing and effective, it is sharper than any to-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath soul and the immoral spirit, and of joints and marrow exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart."
The end of this Scripture could be translated, "judging the very attitudes of the heart." Simply, the more knowledge of the Word the more opportunity for understanding, in turn producing wisdom to establish our temporal walk in freedom.
Sadly, many of the sons of God have taken the wrong approach towards their given freedom. They assume their freedom is to do as they see fit. Because of this attitude, they have been blinded and have become divided, causing strife and division even among God's sons.
The attitude of blind freedom has come through incorrect teaching, causing strongholds to be established in our mind, in turn creating within us a crooked heart. Remember, "As a man thinks in his heart so is he." So if our heart is not established in truth, our heart will be affected or can be made crooked. In other words, we can have a slant on things through the attitudes and if it is not corrected and the Word is given, it will be received through wrong attitudes or a crooked heart.
The Word of God is light. When the light of the Word is presented to our heart it is perfect. But if the light is bent, slanted or made crooked, the light will be distorted. This is how our concept of freedom can be perceived through a crooked heart, which then causes the truth to be tinted to our understanding or attitudes instead of God's.
Through this slant, many believers actually think they are right in their beliefs of freedom, or whatever area of doctrine they look at. Because of the way we have been raised, taught or depending on the hurts or offence in our heart, we can use our freedom as liberty to voice or make certain stands against whomever or whatever does not line up with our heart or thinking.
We may say if we have the Spirit how can we be deceived. This statement alone shows us we have already been deceived. Remember it is the Word that reveals the intents of our heart, without the Word and understanding how the Spirit works in our life, we can be deceived!

Freedom; a Responsible Attitude

"Do not be deceived and deluded and mislead; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at, (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or His precepts being set aside). [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For what ever a man sows that and that only is what he will reap. For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life,"
Now the Spirit is not questioning our regeneration, nor is this a heavy hand of God's judgment, as some would teach. He is simply saying listen, do not fool around with the flesh and do not use your liberty as an incentive for the flesh because you will reap what you sow.
The Apostle Paul said, "What shall we say to all this? Are we to remain in sin in order that God's grace may multiply and over flow? Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer?" In other words, how can we who are free allow our freedom to be stolen?
Read carefully! There is no such thing as saying I have freedom, so there is no effect to what I do. It is a wrong heart attitude because we do reap what we sow.
There is no such thing as freedom without responsibility but the good news is we have the freedom to choose and the power to do so through the Spirit within.
Understand! I am not advocating sin consciousness. I am simply trying to divert an attitude that can lead us down a path of hurt and pain and I know this from my personal life. I have experienced the pain from my decisions and wrong attitudes towards my freedom.
There is a growing part of God’s family that are being set free to the knowledge of God’s salvation to all and an understanding to the incredible work of grace that has been given to planet earth, but in this new realization has come a complacent attitude that because all sin is forgiven one does not have to concern themselves about their actions of sin, yet this is farthest thing from the truth. Although God at all times sees the sons of God as holy and righteous in his site does not eliminate the cause and effect of walking after the flesh.
Now I do believe people who know God do not really want to live in habitual sin but I also realize we do miss the mark and live with this flesh that is warring against us. I also know that I am forgiven by the continual work of the blood, but to use my liberty or freedom as an excuse is simply not freedom at all but bondage. Again this has nothing to do with our standing in God but when it concerns bondage it concerns the power of the flesh. This where our attitudes needs to change, the attitudes that steps over and perverts our belief of knowing we have liberty and freedom in the Son.
"Let not sin therefore rule as king in your mortal short-lived perishable bodies to make it yield to their cravings and be subject to their lust and evil passions." So because we are dead to sin, we no longer need to yield to its cravings. We can boldly proclaim we are free. "It is no longer I that lives, but it is the Son who lives in me."
If we are in the attitude of freedom abuse, do not get under condemnation but come to the cross of freedom, "He is faithful and just to forgive your sins." Now this is sin in the flesh, we cannot sin from our new being in the Son, this is why Paul said I do not know why I do the things I do but this one thing I do know it is know longer I that do it but the sin within my members, flesh! He goes on to say who will deliver me from the wrenched thing but thank God through the son there is therefore now no condemnation to those in the Son
Remember if you are regenerated, then you're in Him. Being in Him means you are in right standing. You're relationship is not effected, but your heart attitude towards God can be effected, so it should be the desire of every son to want to please their Father.

Chapter 5

The Attitude, Unquestionably Free

Now, to articulate all aspects of freedom in God would take volumes so the next few points are only a few overviews concerning your freedom as sons. I hope it will challenge you to search for a deeper understanding of your freedom and liberties.
First, we are free from the strong arm of the adversary.
The adversary first must be understood from the aspect of the flesh. Remember when Jesus told Peter to stand behind me Satan, well most religious thinking instantly picture a red devil with horns and a pitch fork taking over Peter or something more diabolical, but it is this mind set that end up bypassing the true identity of this adversary and the avenues it uses to war against God.
Now some bibles, not all, use the words Satan or devil when describing someone who opposes God, but in the original text it is adversary, someone or something that opposes or resists God. So when Jesus called Peter Satan this may have sounded harsh but all Jesus was really saying was Peter you are my adversary and your attitude oppose and resist my Fathers plan for My life.
The flesh is the greatest adversary that opposes God and this is where as some call Satan resides. This is where the antichrist sprit, the adversary works to stop or control humanity. Read careful and I pray you take no offence but the body you live in at times possess the character of the antichrist spirit, what do I mean by this? Simple, the second we opposes the truth of God in our life or anyone else’s for that matter, the adversary is manifest. So for us as  the sons of God to get self righteous about how good we are in this flesh is a lie because no one is righteous or can ever be from the flesh.
But Thank God we are no longer slave to the flesh. By the cross this adversary has put to shame, literally disarming it, in turn giving us opportunity to stay out of that slave market.
"God disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it the cross.”
Friend, our Lord stripped the adversary of his power, in turn equipping us by His Spirit the power to establish His Word, a Words that has push back the gates of hell.
Sons of God, you need not fear the adversary, Satan the devil, take your position in God and understand that the adversary is under your feet!
Next we are free from sin.
The bible says "How can we who died to sin, live it any longer." Another verse says, "For when a man dies, he is freed, loosed and delivered from the power of sin."
So where did we die to sin? At the cross through regeneration, simply the new you have no sin and cannot sin because it is of God. Now the earthen vessel the flesh you live in is another story, my flesh always will sin but I am no longer of the flesh but of the spirit, so it is no longer I that live but the Son who lives in me
Simply, we have died in Christ, we are no longer our own, we were bought by His precious blood. Sin no longer has right to dictate; we are free not to sin!
The next thing we need to look at is we are free from past! "And you were dead in trespasses and in the un circumcision of your flesh, your sensuality, your sinful carnal nature, God brought to life together with the Son having freely forgiven us all our transgressions."
Our past has no right to come up again, because of who we are in the Son; simply our past should have no bearing on our future. Today through the flesh and the battle of our mind we may be reminded of past mistakes, feelings of guilt and the burdened down with condemnation. Yet again the bible says, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation any adjudging guilt or wrong for those who are in the Son."
Friend, no adversary, no person or thing has a right to remind us of our past. As far as God is concerned it has been dealt with through the cross. So forgive yourself and forgive others, this will establish the ground for experiencing your freedom to its fullest potential.
The next one is exciting, we are free to access and walk into God's presence confidently at any moment we feel the need to speak to or bask in the presence of the King of Kings.
"Therefore, brethren, since we have full freedom and confidence to enter into the [Holy of] Holies [by the power and virtue] in the blood of the Son."
The question may be, "I thought no unholy thing could go into God's presence? This is true from the flesh! But we do not go in flesh or by our merit but through Son and His accomplishments on the cross. In Him, God sees us as holy, enabling us to draw mercy and grace at all times of need or just to appreciate our Father's presence.
Next, we are free from the Law and its Curse.
"Having canceled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This note with its regulations, decrees, and demands He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to His cross."
Sadly, many people are mixing the Old Covenant with the New Testament and it will not mix. Let us first understand that the Law in itself could not justify, satisfy or make any person righteous. God never intended anyone to use it to be righteous; actually it was Israel who demanded the Law.
The Law was simply produced as a moral mirror, a mirror that reflected the image of God's absolute perfection of holiness. When they looked into the mirror of the law, they see they are sinners, who are unholy and unjust. But the mirror was never meant to save anyone, but to lead them to the grace of God. Yes! The Law in itself was good, perfect and holy but not the instrument of redemption; only by the Son can anyone find this freedom.
Because we could not in ourselves live the law, its judgment was a curse. The Son came to the cross, took the punishment of the curse and set humanity free.
"The Son purchased our freedom redeeming us from the curse (doom) of the Law and its condemnation by Himself becoming a curse for us." We are free from the Law and Curse!
Next, we are free from things,
"For where your treasure is, their will your heart be also."
Now this is really a hard study because our world is so bombarded with the view of self, fulfilling all our hearts desires by what is being dictated through an attitude that we can have anything. The problem is at what cost? In today’s world the attitude is at any cost, it does not matter who suffers or who gets stepped on. It does not matter about how stable our families are because the attitude is things will make everything all right.
A society driven by things is eroding the very fabric and social structure of the world we live in. We are consumed with making money so we can have things. The bible is plain when it says that the love of money is the root of all evil, it can not get any plainer than that. Now am I saying that it is wrong to have things and money? No! But it does not take much looking around the world to see that we are in big trouble and where the treasures of the heart are.
“Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, what are we going to have to eat? Or, what are we going to have to drink? Or, what are we going to have to wear? For the gentiles wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all, but seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things will be given you besides."
Anything that gets our eyes off God as our source and creator of things is not freedom at all but bondage. Yet the Word does say "And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in the Son."
We first must understand our riches in God before we can truly be rich; God is the best provider of all things. Today we hear that the planet is getting smaller because of masse population and there is a move by the elite to depopulation. Yet if truth be known there is enough technology developed to feed and house ever man women, child and more on planet earth.
Most of the world’s money is horded by five percent of humanity. If wealth was allowed to follow God’s system there would be no problems today, but because God has allowed man to live his way God has no place in the economics of this world, greed and power of the rich rule and direct everything concerning things and with great profit.
As the sons of God we have every thing that pertains to life and godliness, also God will do above and beyond anything we could ever ask, think or imagine." Now that's freedom!
Next, we are free from the control of man!
"There is [now no distinction] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not male or female: for you are all one in Christ." Enough said!
Finally, no matter what we are in or what we are going through, we can always know we have a future, one so glorious that it goes beyond our human reason or attitudes.
Friend, we can take heart and know we have everlasting life ahead. This should cause joy unspeakable to rise within. If Jesus lives in us, then freedom is ours today.
You are free, free to live a life controlled by God. In this comes a love that is unconditional, mercy that will never stop flowing. A grace that is never changing, a father that will never leave us nor forsake us today we are, free indeed!
