When the Lord put on my heart to write books, I felt like Moses when he said to God he could not speak! Although I could never put myself in the position of the great leader Moses, I did understand his dilemma.
I was also reminded of the Scripture that said, God would confound the wise with the foolish things of the world. Well, I feel if that was true then I fit the calling. English class was not one of my strongest points, to be honest it still is not! So I had an advantage right from the start, I knew I could not trust myself so why not God! So there I went with my favorite prayer, help me Lord!
The first question was what do you want to write? He told me to write what was dear to my heart. That was back in ninety-two, in ninety-four I finished my first book, not a literary masterpiece but it was mine, Discerning the Body of Christ.
I was proud and so was my wife who knew I never wrote much of anything in my life. Of course I had my critics who always found the literary errors. Oh well I know that many people were blessed by the book and that was all that God wanted from me.
I have written many other books since and have more in the works but one-day I was confronted with a situation in a church. And through this I was reminded of the first book I wrote and the information that helped others in similar trials. So I have decided to rewrite it for those who are willing to listen to God concerning the Body of Christ.
The pages you are about to read will challenge you about how God views His church and how we, as believers, should approach and understand the body of Christ. Many in the church are in strife and division because they simply have no concept of the uniqueness and oneness God has with His church.
My prayer is that you will ask God for wisdom and revelation on this doctrine and that the eyes of your understanding will be enlightened to the incredible love the Father has for His church.
I also pray that this book never be used as a tool to abuse God's children. There are things in this book that may sound hard to some and to soft to others. My intention was to minster on the bases of grace and grace alone and that it would minister grace to the reader. For it is grace and grace alone that trains and disciplines us in His love. And it is grace alone that empowers the believer to walk this life as a Christian.
To the minister who reads this book my desire is that you fall in love with your church. Embrace those who seem unlovable and maybe even against you as mush as you embrace those who seem to be with you. In the end you will only become a better minister.
As you study with an open heart, you will begin to realize that God has never given up on you. And is forever at work for your betterment, no matter how much pain you may feel or go through. To be at peace in this temporal life one must find God's will and place in God's glorious church the body of Christ. As we do this we will begin the journey that can never fail because in the end life was never ours but His!
Let us then begin our tour into the body of Christ, the glorious church.
