Grace is a subject that has fascinated me from my first visitation with God, actually I am some how driven to it like a lost treasure. I desire more then life itself to know and understand its mysteries and secrets. To some it is a word; to me it is a tapestry of various forms and applications. A masterpiece of art, variegated with patches of brilliant colors. A symphony of sound instruments that extend peace and tranquility. Grace to me is beyond incredible, beyond powerful, that if I could capture its trueness, understand its vastness, I would experience all the essence of God and His fullness. An impossibility I know in this life time! Grace to me is the pivotal point of everything that God is concerning my relationship to Him. It is the very fabric and thread that binds me to the beauty and oneness of His body, the church. It is the heart of His power that enables and strengthens me to stand firm in times of trouble. It is the security of knowing, without a doubt, that He will never leave me nor forsake me! To comprehend grace is to know God, His motivation and His unconditional love. Simply to know grace is to know God! Grace is what motivated God to send his Son to a lost world. The very foundation of our faith, the essence of all that we are in and through Christ. Grace is a perfect holy righteous God who comes to imperfect helpless humans and says, I desire to have a relationship with you, to bless you, to take away your guilt and shame, to raise you to a place of dignity and self-worth, to be your Father and accept you as my children unconditionally. Grace is an extension of a Father who has done everything possible in this universe to bring us to His Son. Grace is defined as God's unmerited favor or God's riches at Christ's expense. The infinite, limitless, eternal, unconditional, unlimited love of God expressed towards us who did not deserve it! Purely uncompromising, unconditional favor and kindness to humanity. A grace of many sides! Why would we not want to know this awesome grace? My prayer is, "That He may grant us a spirit of wisdom and revelation, of insight into the mysteries and secrets, in the deep intimate knowledge of Him. By having the eyes of our heart flooded with light, so that we can know and understand the hope to which He has called us and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints. And that we can know and understand what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His might strength." Ephesians 1:17,18,19. In this writing I want to present the many sides or aspects of grace. Many of God's children only know one side of grace through salvation and sadly some only know it as a prayer over a meal. To simplify it is a task in itself, the subject is infinite when trying to understand God. In other words, I can do no justice to a knowledge that only God can give true revelation, but I hope beyond expectations that what you do capture will bring intimate understanding with an incredible loving God. "As each of you has received a grace gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as [benefits] good trustees of God's many-sided grace..." 1 Peter 4:10. To give an analogy of many sides of grace, I liken it to a motor in a car. When I look at a motor I see only a motor because I will admit I am not mechanically inclined. Now I have a Finnish friend who is a mechanic and when he looks at the motor he sees different parts, components and applications. To me it is just a motor to get my car from one destination to another; to him it is the heart that drives of the car. I see one thing and he sees many things! To many believers grace is just grace, they see it like I see a motor and leave it at that. Yet when it comes to grace I see many forms, applications and components and I desire to know all its parts so I can better understand God and how He can take me to my destination of life. Grace needs to be understood in all its applications so the Christian can avoid trouble on the road of life. It is vital that we master this knowledge because the results of understanding grace will be a people who walk in unconditional love, a commodity in short supply in this day and age. Grace operating in its fullness will bring the power and mind of Christ in every situation and cause us to stand firm in a time of trouble. I pray that as you study these pages you will be infused in the inner man to walk out the fullness of life in Christ, and that you may come to know the incredible love of the Father towards you. And to comprehend the simplicity of amazing grace and her many side.
