As a young believer a preacher told a story of a man who came on a ship from Europe. He bought a one-way ticket to the land of his dreams. While on the voyage he would walk past the restaurant and watch passengers eating incredible meals while he himself would have to eat dry bread and cheese on the deck or in his cabin. One day a cook spotted the man eating on deck and asked him of his circumstance. The cook in turn offered him the odd meal if he would help in the kitchen. The man quickly jumped at the opportunity to get a square meal. Finally at the end of the voyage the man with all his belongings departed the ship. The Captain of the chip was shacking the hand of passengers as they left and when it came to the gentlemen the Captain asked why he had not seen him in the restaurants and special galas and events. The gentlemen politely, with embarrassment, told the captain that he had no money and could not afford the luxuries. The captain, with a sad look replied by telling the gentlemen that all his meals and special events were included in his ticket. Now this may sound like a sad story, yet in some ways this is how some many are concerning their place in Christ. By not understanding that Jesus has paid for the ticket, concerning all their salvation. The benefits of all that they have inherited through the finished work of the cross. Many are tricked by the darkness of their mind to live well below the means of their identity in Christ. Many do not or cannot comprehend all that Christ has accomplished for them and at the same time do not know their place in God's kingdom. When Jesus came to this earth to fulfill the plans and purposes of God he came with the awareness that He was the Son of God. And in this reality Jesus was empowered to walk as a son with all the rights, privileges and power as a Son of God. Most struggled with this reality by not knowing or comprehending that they, like Jesus, also have all the rights and privileges as sons of God. Jesus was able to do exploits for His Father because he knew He was of His Father. By knowing this Jesus could confidently say I do as my Father tells me. He simply knew His place and royalty to speak to all, by the father. Many have used the excuse that Jesus could do all that he did because he was the Son of God. Yet it must be understood that Jesus was all of man and was tempted in every way that we do. He could do all things because He knew who he was through the Father. Today our identity crises is in us not acknowledging and walking as the sons of God. And when we do try, we do it by walking it out in the flesh instead of by the spirit. We must come to the place of knowing we are spirit beings, One with Christ and one with the Father. God never intended for us to make the flesh god but to bring the flesh to the place of submission to God. The flesh will always war against the Spirit when we do not walk as sons. The victory that so many Christians strive for is simply in coming to recognize their place, as the sons of God and in so doing, like Jesus; they too can walk in the life of the spirit. Do all that the Father commands! The message of Identification is one of the most critical foundational truths that a son of God can comprehend. In this truth we will by the spirit begin to walk in the dimension of God. Sons of God going about doing the Fathers business. The church sadly has spent most of its time striving with the flesh. Looking for their identity in works, performance and religion. Trying to find favor and acceptance in God by duty and sacrifice. What we have ended up with a people filled with offence, frustration and discontentment. It does not take a doctorate in theology to quickly realize that our performance or righteousness can never or will ever stack up to God. It is as filthy rags! Man cannot get to God by the flesh yet around the world man builds their religion in hope that God may smile down on them. Yet the simplicity of the gospel of grace is a stumbling block to those who find satisfaction in their doing. Insecurity and fear are the foundation blocks to stopping the church from finding their rightful place as sons. Simply through regeneration we are transformed from glory to glory. From a lost sinner to a saint seating in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We can rest and be assured that the Father has done all to establish His kingdom through the son. And by the Son all may come to taste and partake of the benefit and place as a full fledge Son of God. God has never questioned what he has done and invites all to experience this sonship. He has set his agenda by the cross, the cornerstone of the foundation to expose and reveal to the entire universe the sons of God. The bible says that the mountains an the trees clap there hands and that this very earth cries out to the revealing of the sons of God. Many feel that this will happen in the by and by. When we all get to heaven! But my friends the sons of God are among us standing in multitudes in the present of mankind. They are a force greater then all the armies of the earth. A nation of sons that excite to do all that the father desires to give to this universe. We are not some piece of bad clay but a perfect casting of bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh says the lord. I believe that it is time to reveal the sons of God. To bring forth that which the prophet has spoken, Jesus who proclaimed through His inspired word that, as He is so are we! God has through the new birth brought us dignity a position of royalty. A place of ownership and a stature of greatness. Why not tell darkness of his goodness mercy and grace. To bring understanding the awesome wonders of His love to all humanity. Positioned through Salvation The word position means a proper place, a place of advantage, or a place of rank and stature. The very moment you were made aware of God you became a partaker of the very life of God, His nature with all its attributes. You were translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light of the Son. You have now become identified with Christ, a transformation of life that now considers you a Son of God. An heir with Christ. This means you have become a member of God's own household. A member of the family with all it positions, benefits and privileges. In this great miracle you have received an inheritance. An inheritance you did nothing to deserve, you did not earn it, and you could not buy it. It was free with out any cost to you. The only condition needed is that by faith. And even this is not of your self but a gift from God. 1 Peter 1:23 say, "You have been regenerated (born again), not from a mortal origin (seed, sperm), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God." You are a New Creation The bible says that no one comes to the father unless He draws you. Along life's way, by the spirit, you became aware of the good news gospel of grace and you believed. And instantly you were no longer living out of the old nature but of a new nature created in Christ Jesus. And it was of His own [free] will that He gave us birth [as sons] by [His] Word of Truth, so that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures [a sample of what He created to be consecrated to Himself]. James 1:18. Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17. By free grace we were given this new life and instantly becoming new creatures all together. The old nature passed way; you now live in a new realm, a New Kingdom in a new identity for the kingdom of God is within you. Out of the love of God in the cross towards us, we are taken from a place of lost and miraculously given a new position as sons of the living God. And by this reconciliation God Himself now views us as His sons, a part of His royalty, in His kingdom. Therefore you are no longer outsiders (exiles, migrants, and aliens, excluded from the rights of citizens), but you now share citizenship with the saints (God's own people, consecrated and set apart for Himself); and you belong to God's [own] household. Ephesians 2:19. With this membership to the household through the new birth you have been given the right to identify with the family and all its privileges. You are no more sons of wrath but sons of God. The privilege of all sin forgiven. All wrath being satisfied, All judgement deserved has been legally wiped clean. By this you now have legal entrance into the royal chambers of the most holy place of God. In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor, Ephesians 1:7. Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God's favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God. Romans 5:2. You are an Heir Therefore, you are no longer a slave (bond servant) but a son; and if a son, then [it follows that you are] an heir [2] by the aid of God, through Christ. Galatians 4:7. And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory. Romans 8:17 An heir is someone who is entitled to benefits, property, stature and advantages. If we are sons then this means we are benefactors of what was accomplished on the cross. This is the miracle that all that Jesus inherited through the cross; we also can freely and confidentially access. It is like an open check that Jesus has already signed. All we have to do is draw freely as needed to do all that the Father asks. Now as sons this inheritance is not activated when we die, but was made in effect in the finished work of the cross. Therefore we have right to access now at will, whenever needed. Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]. Hebrews 4:16 We have every right through our new identity in Christ! It is not in some far off place that takes some special works or performance to access. But sealed by the Spirit security box that God has given us the key to access through the Son. And as sons we freely access through out position and identity as the sons of God. God desires for all to benefit from this great inheritance. He wants us to take hold of this new identity that all may come to and see the revealing of the sons of God. He gives us the Ability to walk in it And now [brethren], I commit you to God [I deposit you in His charge, entrusting you to His protection and care]. And I commend you to the Word of His grace [to the commands and counsels and promises of His unmerited favor]. It is able to build you up and to give you [your rightful] inheritance among all God's set-apart ones (those consecrated, purified, and transformed of soul). Acts 20:31 There are several thing we must remember, first that God has extended His grace to us and enable us to be empowered to walk out this inheritance. Secondly He has given us His Word as a tool to help direct us through the door into our inheritance. Further more he has permanently placed His own Spirit with in us to help guide us on how to use the inheritance to His glory. Again please understand that it is the will and desire of the Father that you access and live in the benefit of this inheritance. He has abundance of resources and in all eternity never runs dry. We must allow the life of Christ to live in our space, allow him to envelop and infuses his blessing in all areas of your life. Walk in the identity of your newfound relationship. Do not let anything pass you by to possessing all that the Father has for you. May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm! Ephesians 1:3 The word us, includes all in Christ. It did not say will but that He has blessed all with every spiritual blessing. That means all the inheritance! Not ten percent, nor fifty, nor ninety but all blessings according to His will. Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [because it pleased Him and was His kind intent] [So that we might be] to the praise and the commendation of His glorious grace (favor and mercy), which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. Ephesians 4 to 6. Remember before the foundations of the world he had all in mind. He had all inheritance prepared before hand. He had His stamp of approval and ownership on this plan that all would be identified as His sons with all stature and privilege. He desires you to know you are His and belong to Him and that you have every right to all that He has. Adopted as Sons To purchase the freedom of (to ransom, to redeem, to atone for) those who were subject to the Law, that we might be adopted and have sonship conferred upon us [and be recognized as God's sons]. And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the Holy] Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, Abba (Father)! Father! Galatians 4:5,6. My friend, the word adopt doesn't mean you have been brought into the family without a bloodline, as some have taught. The word adopt means that you have come into full adult rights of inheritance at salvation. The word adopt symbolized the bringing of full benefactor as a Son of God now! When God looks at you he sees a son, a son made full and complete in him. A son lacking nothing, even though you may feel lack and not complete, it makes no difference He has! As your Father He will never change towards you, always take audience with you. He will not reject or push you away. So take your rightful place as the sons of God. Do not let darkness of your mind cover up your identity any more. Do not any longer live below your inherit right as a Son of God!
