Satan's maneuvering us to receive Legalism
Yet Satan is forever maneuvering to ensnare us back to the place of Law. A place under its jurisdiction as accuser, simply pushing us back to bondage again.
He is continually trying to present God, through a legalistic view, as an egotistic, condescending, angry, abusive, overbearing person, one who gets pleasure in destroying the lives of humans, especially if they do not tow the party line.
Peter said we are to be sober, be vigilant because our adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Paul said that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. He also said we are to leave no room or foothold for the devil, give no opportunity to him.
As we can see from these Scriptures, it does not take a doctorate in theology to realize that we have an enemy, adversary whose name is Satan. Yet there are many in God's church that do not believe in a Devil and in turn act like he does not exist.
Sadly some have little understanding of the spirit realm and how it effects the environment in which they live. Many are simply ignorant to his devices, especially legalism!
Second Corinthians says that to keep Satan from getting the advantage over us, for we are to be not ignorant of his wiles and intentions.
We can understand the ignorance in the non-believer but in the church, a believer in Christ! Sadly many have the attitude they are immune to Satan. A passive attitude of ignoring their responsibility, then making them oblivious to the war at hand.
This can be a critical and fatal mindset!
The good news is Jesus at the cross-disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display over them in Him and in it the cross.
Satan has lost his hold to keep us captive through the work of grace. Simply, we have been raised to a position of victory and dignity.
The Apostle Paul wrote that thanks be to God, who gives us the victory, making us conquerors through our Lord Jesus Christ. And that thanks be to God who already leads us in trumpet in Christ.
In Romans he said, what then shall we say to these things, If God is for us, who can be against us? And in all these things we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus who loves us.
John said we are God's little children and have overcome them, because He who is in us is greater then he who is in the world.
As we can see from these Scriptures, we are now more than conquerors. Yet this does not mean that Satan has curled up and died. Look around the world today!
He is still has deceit and strategies, spirit forces of wickedness at work. We must understand that principalities and powers, master spirits, present darkness and wickedness in high places also have an enemy and that enemy is you!
We are Satan's Enemy.
All evil that Satan posses, bitterness, offence, hatred and every vile thing is pointed towards God's church. He hates God and is at work twenty-four hours a day to discredit and make Him look bad.
Satan knows very well that it is the church that represents God!
He knows the legal power, position and authority that have been passed to her through salvation.
He knows what the body of Christ can do to him and he is afraid. Actually terrified with anxiety at the thought of their awakening.
Every part of his strategies and plans are set to deceive, manipulate and divert us from understanding our authority and power in Christ. Legalism is his greatest tool!
Satan has every right to feel dread, insecurity and panic. And all the more to him!
Can you imagine how he must of felt on the day of Pentecost. One hundred and twenty people in the upper room tarrying to receive the power from on high.
Before this he had been dealing with only one Jesus!
Suddenly from heaven came a rushing, a violent tempest blast. The whole room was filled with God's power and like tongues of fire, they were filled with the Holy Spirit and power!
Satan's forces must have been in total shock and confusion. At one moment in time they had one Jesus who had authority over devils, the next moment they are dealing with one hundred twenty believers in Jesus who now posse this same power.
To give them an even bigger head ache, the Apostle Peter goes forth under that same power and preaches the good news gospel, and another three thousand people are given that same power.
The same power that defeated Satan on the cross!
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead!
I am sure that it did not take Satan long to realize his problem. So with urgency he calls forth his master spirits, principalities and power forces for a warfare strategy meeting.
The plan of Satan.
The plan was simple, do everything in their evilness to blind the world from seeing this power. How? Use religion and false doctrine to present to the world the spirit of legalism.
Now this is only an imagined story on my part but I believe it could be very true. To look at the world today, it is easy to see that the sin of legalism is at work. There is not a religion, nation or people that has not been infected by this virus in some way or another.
Now, I in no way want to exalt Satan's work. Yes, he is real and is well organized, considering the destruction he has done! But God is greater and far more powerful. He has given us everything that pertains to life and godliness. He has given us His ability and strength through grace to escape the clutches of legalism.
Again the problem stems from a lack of knowledge. Information that shows us as believers our position in Christ. A standing before God that should not cause us to look for favor, blessings and acceptance but a home in which we a His children can seek refuge, peace and love in a time of trouble or sin.
In the Hosea the Word says, that my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.
This may be a short Scripture but it looms large in consideration to what's happening to a church that struggles under the hold of legalism.
